Will there be an Android version?
Yes, there will be! What you should do is subscribe to our newsletter and be the first to know, as soon as we launch!
What area does the map cover?
The map covers the area of all the stops of the walk, plus a rather large area around it. That way, it is very convenient for you to find your way to the first stop, as well as your way from stop to stop.
Does the map consume data traffic?
No, absolutely not! It works completely offline. So you can be sure, not to run up data romaing cost. STILL, when abroad, do switch “Data Roaming” off in your device’s settings – otherwise the device would try to speed up GPS-localization by using an internet connection. (see: does location consume data?)
Does location consume data?
iPhone and iPad operating system use so-called “assisted GPS”, which tries to speed up the location process by using a data connection. This is a standard functionality of the device and cannot be deactivated by our app. You can ONLY deactivate this, by going to your device’s settings: Settings => Network => Data Roaming = Off.
Which languages available?
WAT is available in English and Spanish for now. More languages will follow.
How can I change language?
The app uses your device language settings to determine the app language. If your device is set to Spanish, it will use the Spanish version. In all other cases, it will use the English version. Should you want to switch to Spanish (English), you need to go to your device’s settings/international and change it there to Spanish.
How can I change miles/kilometers?
Go to the settings screen of your device. Scroll all the way down. You will see a list of your apps. Find your Walking Audio Tours app logo and select it. You will find the switch to change the setting there.
How do I find my location?
If you device is GPS-enabled, the app will locate you automatically. You will notice the orange position pin on the map, once you are located, although you won't see it if you are out of the bounds of the map. If you don’t see the location marker on the map, you might want to give the app a bit more time to locate you. Make sure you are not indoor and have clear view of the sky. The satellite GPS-signal can be blocked by tall buildings and structures. Also , to avoid that “assisted GPS” operating system feature consumes data abroad, make sure to switch Data Roaming off (see Question: “Does location consume data?”)
What is the orange pin?
The orange pin is your current location. It will move along the map when you move. That way it is very easy for you to find the next stop of the walk. If you go to “Tour Sights”, you will also notice on stop being highlighted in orange – this is the stop closest to your current position. We suggest you, however, to do the tour in order as some stories maybe related.
What is the distance number?
This number shows you the distance to the next stop in meters (when set to kilometers) or yards (when set to miles).
